Our client, a major port for London, will require a Berthing Master who will be responsible for the supervision of the Marine Operatives on watch, during the safe and efficient movement and mooring of all ships through the lock and onto the allocated berths. The Berthing Master is responsible for the supervision of Marine Operatives who efficiently and effectively carry out all operational tasks allotted, to include the safe movement and berthing of all vessels within the port. Reporting to the Harbour Master, and supervising the Marine Operators who will be reacting to and directing a prompt response to all marine incidents in accordance with the Port's and industry procedures and the Port Marine Safety Code. Qualification, knowledge and experience; Qualified to; Officer of the watch ll/1 Coc; or MOD (Navy) qualifications and a current ENG 1, or an ML5, MCA medical certificate, with previous experience as; Chief Officer in ‘short sea or home trade’ vessels, or port towage. Officer of the watch of a larger container, bulk or passenger vessel, or Pilotage. Previous relevant MOD (Navy) or equivalent, relevant service, e.g. Barge Master.
