Short Description
We require a positive and outgoing Chief Engineer to join our client’s team working on their Tall ships. You will become part of a charitable trust which gives people of mixed abilities the freedom to explore their ability, potential & place in the world through inclusive adventures at sea. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the efficient operation, repair and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical machinery and associated equipment onboard the vessel. Your responsibilities will include: General upkeep of the engine room, pump rooms, steering gear compartments and storage areas Part of vessel inspections Bunkering operations Assisting with organising maintenance and repairs Running the ship’s bar and ordering stock Skills Required: Minimum UK MCA Yacht 4 or SMEOL (Senior Marine Engine Operators Licence) although higher engineering qualifications ie UK COC/CEC Chief Engineer will be preferred STCW Basic Safety Training (PSSR, EFA, PST, FPFF, AFF, PSCRB ) Essential Proficiency in Security Duties (PDSD) Essential Proficiency in Medical First Aid - Essential Ship Security Officer - Desirable Shipboard Safety Officer - Desirable HELM- Desirable ENG1 Seafarers Medical Certificate -Essential Strong interpersonal and communication skills- Essential DBS Certificate - Essential Ability to work under pressure -Essential Good command of written and spoken English (Essential) Person Specification: Willingness and ability to be flexible Ability to get on well with a wide variety of people and work as a team Strong work ethic Dependable Tenacity Positive attitude Self-motivated For further information please email info@bachmann-recruitment.com
